July-4th.
Christians in Syria being killed every day for their faith. We live in a free country. We do not appreciate our freedom until it is challenged or threatened. Our freedom is no accident. It is God-given. However, it has been preserved by brave men and women who have sacrificed their very lives so that we might remain free. Freedom is never free. The freedom that we enjoy has been purchased at the cost of the lives of our forefathers.

On July 4, 1776, the Congress of the 13 states issued their Declaration of Independence from England. Old Ben Franklin stood up in the company of men who were about to affix their signatures to that document, and he said, "This is a great risk, for if we sign our names and lose in our cause, then our identity will be known and all will be lost." That immortal 56 who stood in old Independence Hall in Philadelphia risked their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor -- everything was put down in that signature.

America has enjoyed the signature blessings of the Lord. God has blessed America.

liberty comes with having a genuine relationship with Jesus. Living behind bars is not in the least an ideal life for anyone. Just like being locked in jail, our sin has the power to keep us bound up and controlled. At first, certain sins can seem like no big deal, but eventually we end up so entangled in captivity to them that we feel like there's no way out. We eventually become prisoners to our sins and addictions. However, John 8:36 says,  "So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free!" God's plan for us is to walk in the abundance of His freedom every single day. He wants to set the captives free from the chains of sin and oppression, but it is up to us to surrender our lives to His bigger and better ways.
God’s creating man in his own image, was to be subservient to no one save God only. One who commits sin is a slave of sin. Let’s ask for the grace to be totally free, not just politically free, but spiritually and emotionally as well. Let’s pray that God may grant us the wisdom and strength to protect the freedom from those who try to take it away.
